Thank you for your interest in participating in ASI convention music. We look forward to reviewing your application. Please review the following guidelines before filling out the form below.
Music Styles: If you would like to get an idea of the music styles that are permissible and generally performed at ASI conventions, please watch the online programs from recent ASI conventions posted on the ASI website Convention Media link.
Selection Criteria: ASI employs the following selection criteria for special music performances: All selections must be sacred and well-executed technically, with live accompaniment. Lyrics should be uplifting and must reflect the values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Instrumental presentations should avoid extremes in dissonance, tempo, and repetitiveness. The music committee accepts applications for instrumental and vocal solos, duets, trios, quartets, ensembles and choirs. (We usually get a preponderance of solo applicants for relatively few solo slots, so group submissions may be given higher preference.) ASI desires convention performers to be active, supportive members in their local Seventh-day Adventist churches, and to generally uphold the lifestyle standards of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Submission Instructions: Online applications will be automatically forwarded to the ASI convention music committee. Applications will not be considered until all of the additional items listed above have been received.
Multiple Submissions Encouraged: We encourage applicants to submit up to three songs for consideration. This gives the music committee more than one option to consider and a better idea of the quality of music to be expected from a particular applicant. It is not necessary to submit a separate application for each song.
Submission Deadline: The deadline for submissions for the 2015 ASI Convention is May 5, 2015.
Notification Date: Musicians selected by the ASI convention music committee to perform at the 2015 convention will be notified by e-mail on or before May 1, 2015. Applicants who have not heard back from the music committee by that date can assume that their performance selections have not been chosen by the committee.
Expenses: Each participant is self-funded for all expenses and must personally provide all instruments (except piano). ASI will not be responsible for providing any necessary instruments or equipment, other than regular sound equipment.
Selection Replacements Not Permitted: Participants may not replace a selection or significantly alter its style or delivery once it has been approved.
Inquiries: If you have any additional questions concerning this application or convention performance, please contact us.
