Author/speaker Steve Wohlberg of White Horse Media appeared in an episode of the History Channel's Nostradamus Effect on Wednesday evening, Oct. 21, 2009. The weekly program examines various end-time scenarios against the backdrop of apocalyptic predictions made by 16th-century French physician and astrologer Michel de Nostradamus.
Not until the show aired did Wohlberg know how much of his original hour-and-a-half interview the episode, entitled "Secrets of the Seven Seals," would include. Wohlberg's response to the decidedly secular program was mixed but generally positive. Despite the sensational treatment of and futurist slant on the book of Revelation, Wohlberg's comments appeared four times in context.
During a portion of the program examining the biblical significance of the number 7, Wohlberg pointed out that the number 7 takes us back to the creation of the earth in six days and to the fact that the Lord rested on the 7th day. He also pointed to the imminent coming of Christ as the focal point of events depicted in Revelation.
In retrospect, Wohlberg is pleased that the program "presented the Bible as a true book, with real prophecies pointing to the end, a final battle, Jesus Christ's victory over Satan, and a new earth." He hopes his comments "will plant seeds, create interest, and lead to a quest to understand more truth."
One viewer posted a comment on the White Horse Media website stating, "What you had to say was done differently than any of the others who spoke.... and I believe God will use that in a mighty way.... I think the world is pretty much in agreement though that something is happening."
A producer for Nostradamus Effect first approached Wohlberg last April with the invitation to appear on the 8th episode, and Wohlberg taped in Burbank the following month. Two months later another producer called him back for the 12th episode, which has not yet aired.
Wohlberg's ministry is unique in that he appears primarily on non-Adventist television and radio shows. He generally is invited to discuss various topics related to media and end-time events, creating opportunities to share his Adventist views and publications with a mostly secular audience that might not otherwise be reached. He finds audiences remarkably open to the messages he shares, and especially enjoys call-in sessions where he can speak directly to curious listeners.
Wohlberg's History Channel appearance is especially well-timed. He just published a book and posted a website speaking to the dangers of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, a movie to be released Nov. 21, 2009. The movie's release is widely anticipated to create a media frenzy.
Wohlberg expects the credibility and exposure he has gained from appearing on Nostradamus Effect to open doors for him both to speak out against The Twilight Saga and to proclaim Christ and His coming to even more secular audiences in the near future. Listeners who take the time to visit his websites will discover a full gamut of articles, videos, and broadcasts addressing a variety of Bible topics including Christ our righteousness, prayer, the Sabbath, and pure living.
